Implications of concomitant diseases on the prognosis of patients with acute miocardial infarction

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains one of the leading causes of mortality and disability worldwide. The prognosis of AMI patients depends not only on timely medical care, but also on the presence of comorbidities that can significantly complicate the course of the disease and increase the risk of unfavourable outcomes. The article discusses the influence of such comorbid conditions as diabetes mellitus, chronic heart failure, arterial hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic kidney disease on the course and prognosis of patients with AMI. Data analysis shows that the presence of comorbidities increases the risk of hospital mortality, recurrent heart attacks and cardiovascular complications in the long term. Special attention is also paid to the strategy of management of patients with comorbid pathology, including the choice of drug therapy and rehabilitation measures aimed at reducing mortality and improving quality of life. The results of the study emphasise the need for an individual approach to the treatment of patients with AMI, taking into account their comorbidities, as well as the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
