Abstract: Phytobia pluviasilvae Boucher Material examined. 1♂ (MPEG): Brasil [Brazil], TO [state of Tocantins], Pium / Base [= Research Center] Canguçu / 12 a [to] 21.V.2016 / F. S. Carvalho-Filho [collector] / Busca ativa. 1♂ (MPEG): Brasil [Brazil], TO [state of Tocantins], Pium / Base [= Research Center] Canguçu / 13–14.V.2016 / F. S. Carvalho-Filho [collector] / Prato azul [= blue pan trap]. Comments. This species was recently described in Boucher & Pollet (2025) based on a specimen from the Amazon forest of Mitaraka, French Guiana. Thus, this is the first record from Brazil. The specimen analyzed was found feeding on dead fish at the margin of a large river (Araguaia River), this being the first record of this behavior observed in a species of Phytobia. See natural history section under Phytobia piscivora sp. nov.
