Quantum Computing and the Future of Cryptographic Security: Navigating Threats with Quantum and Post-Quantum Solutions
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Quantum computers are powerful machines that can solve problems too hard for normal computers. But this power also creates danger. Many of today’s cryptographic systems, such as RSA and ECC, rely on problems that are hard to solve using classical methods. Quantum algorithms like Shor’s and Grover’s could break these systems, putting secure data at risk. This article explains these threats in simple terms and explores two main solutions. One is quantum cryptography, which uses the rules of quantum physics to share secret keys safely. The other is post-quantum cryptography, which creates new math-based methods that even quantum computers cannot easily break. Both approaches have strengths and challenges. Together, they offer a path toward secure communication in the future. This article gives an overview of how we can protect our digital world against quantum threats.
