Aphanogmus of Jeju Island (Hymenoptera: Ceraphronoidea)
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Ceraphronoidea is a dark taxon of microscopic parasitoid wasps, with much of its diversity comprised of undescribed species. Aphanogmus is easy to separate from other Hymenoptera based on simple antennal and wing vein characters. Aphanogmus species can easily be differentiated from each other using male genitalia. Our knowledge of South Korean Ceraphronoidea is limited. We describe one new, and report the presence of seven described Aphanogmus species based on 136 specimens from Jeju Island. We also explore the utility of external morphological characters to corroborate our male genitalia-based species concepts using synchrotron-based micro-CT 3D reconstruction.
