Technical Note on Quality Assessment for BlackSky
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: BlackSky offers Very High Resolution (VHR) Multispectral (MS) and Panchromatic (PAN) imagery acquired with four satellites positioned in two different orbits; low earth orbit and sun synchronous orbit. The payload of BlackSky satellites is the Harris Spaceview small satellite imaging system embedding a high Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) colour camera. This high-quality colour camera allows to access to finer details in the scene, since the Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) of the optical system at Nadir is within 1.0 m. The quality assessment provides a series of checks on the product format, product metadata, geometric calibration and radiometric calibration on a small sample of products. It is important to note that it is possible that these products have been updated since the analysis described in this document.
