A Methodological Investigation into the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in the Context of Digital Transformation in Interior Architecture Education

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Artificial intelligence can be defined as a technology that imitates human beings, tries to learn like them, thinks, reacts and makes decisions. Artificial intelligence has developed very rapidly and has become available in almost all disciplines; one of these disciplines is interior architecture. The integration of artificial intelligence into interior architecture education can be stated as artificial intelligence technologies that can exchange information, produce visuals from text, create plans, sketches and renderings, or artificial intelligence technologies that design interior architectural plans, artificial intelligence that works with rendering engines, artificial intelligence that creates renderings from sketches. The main purpose of this study is to methodologically examine how the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, especially FLUX and MidJourney programs, can be integrated into design processes in interior architecture education. Technological developments are reshaping educational processes in creative fields such as interior architecture. Today, interior architecture education is based on traditional design approaches and does not offer enough practice in the effective use of digital tools. Artificial intelligence-based tools have the potential to accelerate design processes, generate different alternatives and encourage interdisciplinary thinking. Within the scope of this research, how FLUX and MidJourney artificial intelligence tools can be used in interior architecture education and the effects of this use on the design phase are examined. This research is based on a combination of art, design.
