The Role of Micro biomes in Human Cognitive Function and Mental Health

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Traditionally, the human microbiome, with particular reference to the gut microbiota, highlighted its role in digestion and immune responses. However, a series of contradicting reports have suggested recent breakthrough evidence that eponymous axis can modify brain functions, behaviors, or mental health. This gut-brain axis- as it is now getting defined-is simply a bi-lateral function to a essential end, usually evolving neural, hormonal, immune, and metabolic axes to connect the gastrointestinal environment to the CNS processes.
