Intellectual Property Rights in Promoting Innovation and Economic Growth in the Digital Age

Abstract: Intellectual property rights (IPR) play an important role in driving innovation and economic development, especially in the digital age. By providing legal protection to inventors, creators and businesses, IPR attracts research and development (R&D), foreign direct investment (FDI) and enhances industrial competitiveness. This paper studies the relationship between IPR and economic growth, concentrating on how patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets drive innovation. Through a combination of literature review, statistical analysis and case studies, the study highlights the impact of a strong IPR framework on technological progress and GDP growth. Additionally, recommendations are provided to optimize IPR strategies to maximize economic benefits.
