Organizing Independent Study Through Project-based Learning in Middle School Foreign Classrooms

Abstract: This article investigates how to structure independent study using Project-Based Learning (PBL) within middle school foreign language classrooms. It highlights the advantages of PBL in boosting student engagement, fostering critical thinking, and promoting collaboration. The article also identifies challenges such as shifting the teacher’s role and the need for new assessment strategies, suggesting that combining PBL with independent study can significantly enhance learning outcomes and prepare students for future challenges.
