A Study on Nanoparticles as Additives in Engineering Applications

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Nanoparticles have emerged as promising additives in various engineering applications, offering significant improvements in lubrication, thermal conductivity, wear resistance, and mechanical properties. This study explores the role of nanoparticles as performance-enhancing additives in lubricants, coatings, and composite materials. A comprehensive analysis of different nanoparticle types, including metal oxides, carbon-based nanomaterials, and ceramic nanoparticles, is conducted to evaluate their impact on friction reduction, heat dissipation, and durability. Experimental and computational approaches are utilized to assess their effectiveness and dispersion stability. The findings highlight the potential of nanoparticle additives in enhancing efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and extending the lifespan of mechanical systems.
