Studying the Relationship Between Perfectionism and Personal Anxiety
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article presents the results of a study of the relationship between such personality characteristics as perfectionism and anxiety. The authors analyzed the scientific literature to clarify the essence of the concepts being studied. To conduct an empirical experiment, research tools were selected and school students were surveyed. The results of the questionnaires were processed using appropriate methods (answers were converted into points, which reflect the level of expression of the personality characteristics being studied). The authors of the study performed a statistical analysis of the relationship between the phenomena being studied, which allowed them to draw conclusions. As a result of statistical calculations, it was found that the Pearson correlation coefficient of anxiety and perfectionism levels within the sample being studied was 0.64. A positive sign of the coefficient indicates a positive relationship between the personality characteristics being studied. The magnitude of the coefficient indicates that the correlation strength is average. The authors' conclusions are as follows: the data obtained as a result of the study indicate that perfectionistic personality tendencies negatively affect a person's emotional state, making the person anxious.
