Deep fakes and Mitigation Strategies
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Deepfake technology, powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning, has transformed digital media by enabling the creation of highly realistic synthetic content. While deepfakes have legitimate applications in entertainment, education, and accessibility, they also pose significant risks, including misinformation, identity theft, and political manipulation. The rapid advancement of deepfake generation techniques, particularly through Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Autoencoders, has made it increasingly difficult to distinguish between real and fake content.
