SPINMATE: D9.6 Standardisation Assessment Report - Interim
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Standardisation plays a pivotal role in the SPINMATE project, ensuring the development of solidstate battery cells that meet stringent requirements in the electric vehicle sector while aligning with international and EU regulations. By prioritizing sustainability throughout the battery lifecycle—from eco-design and production to recycling and second-life applications— the project supports the European Green Deal and advances the EU’s goals for a circular economy, resource efficiency, and climate neutrality. SPINMATE employs advanced methodologies, such as digital twins and machine learning, to optimize production processes across key manufacturing stages, including cathode and anode preparation, solid electrolyte membrane production, and cell assembly. Collaborative efforts with initiatives like SOLID4B and active engagement with standardisation committees have enabled SPINMATE to contribute to future standards development while aligning its technologies with evolving regulations. The project’s standardisation activities are guided by a two-stage evaluation methodology that assesses current standards, identifies gaps, and proposes advancements to align with market needs and sustainability goals. Tools like the Radar Chart and Standardisation Assessment Survey ensure effective tracking of standardisation maturity and application, providing insights for compliance and industry-wide adoption. With its focus on sustainability, performance, and safety, SPINMATE not only enhances customer satisfaction and competitive positioning but also contributes to the EU’s vision of a sustainable and innovative battery industry that supports the global transition to clean energy.
