Application of Horizontal Wells to Improve Field Development Efficiency

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article discusses current issues of horizontal well application in the development of fields with low-permeability reservoirs. A detailed analysis of the effectiveness of horizontal wells compared to traditional vertical structures is presented, demonstrating a 30-35 times increase in productivity. Based on the modeling of 20 wells of various configurations, a study was conducted on the dependence of productivity on horizontal wellbore length, ranging from 200 to 800 meters. It has been established that the optimal length of the horizontal section is 400-600 meters, providing a 6-7-fold increase in productivity compared to vertical wells.
