AI-Generated Works And Copyright Protection
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: As artificial intelligence (AI) systems become increasingly capable of generating creative works, from visual art and music to literature and software, the relationship between AI and copyright law is becoming increasingly complex. Traditional copyright frameworks, which are designed around human authorship, face significant challenges when applied to works produced by autonomous systems. This paper explores the legal, ethical, and practical implications of AI-generated works within the realm of copyright protection. It examines key issues including authorship, originality, ownership, and liability, and considers how current legal systems are addressing these challenges. Through an analysis of existing case law, legal frameworks, and academic literature, this paper proposes potential avenues for reform to ensure that copyright laws can adequately address the rise of AI-driven creativity.
