How to Break Down Barriers to Learning Languages of Europe

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: - What’s this? - A collection of lifehacks. Or just call them observations. - Lifehacks are everywhere. How yours are special? • Mine are repurposed from Conference Interpreting and Translation. • I tested mine on myself, I shared them with my students, and the whole thing worked. • I checked with the latest advances in educational sciences. - Who is your audience? • Some tutors who teach languages of Europe. • Some translators and Interpreters who are taking another C language on board. • Some independent learners who want to explore a different approach. - Who is NOT your audience? • Tutors hoping for a free database of magical advice. • Entrepreneurs looking for a startup idea. • Learners hoping for a quick fix with their homework. - So what is this then?? - A self-help guide for some people who feel uncomfortable learning / teaching a foreign language. • If you feel like you don’t know where to start or how to proceed; • if you feel stuck at some point; or • if your current learning feels different from your usual experience – those may be the signs of the teaching practices that do not fit your profile. I can help you figure out what exactly may be going wrong. It will then be up to you to look for an alternative in your immediate environment. - What languages are exemplified here? English and Finnish.
