The morphemic structure of a language. The Types of Morphemes
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: : Morphemic analysis involves identifying the smallest units of meaning, known as morphemes, within a word. These morphemes can be root words, prefixes, or suffixes, each carrying its own specific meaning. Language acquisition typically starts with an understanding of root words, which serve as the core of a word and often convey its primary meaning. Prefixes are morphemes added to the beginning of a word, while suffixes are attached to the end. Teaching students how to recognize and combine these fundamental units is crucial to their understanding of linguistics, which will become increasingly complex as they continue to develop their language skills.
