Cultural Dimensions in Education: Comparing Western and Eastern Teaching Approaches
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper explores the impact of cultural dimensions on educational systems, focusing on the comparison between Western and Eastern pedagogical approaches. By utilizing Hofstede’s cultural dimensions framework, the study delves into how cultural variables—such as individualism versus collectivism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term vs. short-term orientation-affect various educational practices, including teaching methods, classroom management, and the interaction between teachers and students. The research highlights the significant role cultural values play in shaping curriculum design, the structure of educational institutions, and the way students engage with their studies.
