Abstract: This research protocol outlines the methodological approach for investigating pathways between SARS-CoV-2 genomic data generation and its uptake in research and policy. Commissioned by Wellcome, the protocol establishes a structured framework for examining eight international research projects funded during the COVID-19 pandemic to strengthen genomic surveillance capabilities across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The protocol details a comprehensive mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection through semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and an online survey with 125 funded researchers.
