The Role of Collaborative Learning on Teaching Foreign Languages and Discourse Competence
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Collaborative learning places with the communicative approach to language training, which prioritizes real-life interaction and meaningful conversation. It gives an opportunity to students to practice language skills in real-world, interactive settings, that is important for developing fluency and discourse competency. In contrast to conventional teacher-centered methods, collaborative learning pays more attention to students, encouraging them to take an active role in their language development. Activities such as group discussions, peer teaching and foster independence and boost self-confidence in using the foreign language. Discourse competence, the ability to construct and understand coherent and meaningful communication in spoken or written forms, evolves through consistent practice and interaction.
