A Fourier-transform approach for fringe pattern analysis for a Mach-Zehnder interferometry measurement on surface evaporation of saturated porous media

Abstract: This extended abstract presents an experimental study using Mach-Zehnder interferometry to investigate surface evaporation in saturated porous media. By applying a Fourier-transform-based fringe pattern analysis, local evaporation rates are derived from phase shifts in interference patterns. The work addresses challenges in phase unwrapping and aims to improve the spatial resolution of evaporation measurements in porous materials. The study was presented at the 15th InterPore Conference 2023 in Edinburgh.
