Building the Writing Habit: Collaborative Writing
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: English writing has changed considerably over the centuries. Early fourteenth-century writing, for example, has significantly different spellings from present-day English and some letters were formed differently: a modern version of written communication, however, received via a mobile phone, can look like this message. Clearly writing has come a long way – or, has it?How to teach writing begins by looking at the process that a competent speaker of English goes through after they decide to write a piece of text, and at how our understanding of this has implications for the way we should approach the teaching of writing. In this article we tried to show the ways of writing activities, (including handwriting, spelling, and punctuation) before going on to show examples of activities designed to help students write coherently in sentences and paragraphs
