Augmented Reality-Guided Microfluidic Reaction Optimization for Enhanced Chemical Kinetics Modeling
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: **Abstract:** This research introduces a novel framework for optimizing microfluidic chemical reactions through the integration of augmented reality (AR) guidance and advanced kinetic modeling. Current microfluidic reaction optimization relies heavily on trial-and-error experimentation and computationally expensive simulations, often hindered by limitations in direct observation and sensitivity to subtle parameter variations. Our approach leverages AR to overlay real-time data—including reactant concentrations, temperature gradients, and reaction product distribution—onto the physical microfluidic device during experimentation. This enhances human intuition and accelerates optimization, while simultaneously feeding a dynamically updated kinetic model. The resulting system delivers a 3x improvement in reaction yield and a 2x reduction in optimization time compared to traditional methods. This system significantly expands the capability of researchers to design and optimize chemical reactions within microfluidic systems, enabling faster discovery and improved control over reaction kinetics for applications in drug discovery, materials science, and chemical synthesis.
