Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: : This study addresses the issue of the "unspoken" in Arab-Islamic historical writing, as one of the topics that has long stirred debate among historians and researchers. The "unspoken" refers to the marginalized or deliberately ignored parts of history by classical historians, often for political, doctrinal, or social reasons. The article aims to uncover the motives and backgrounds behind historians' reliance on this silence, exploring the reasons that led to the omission of certain historical events or facts. It also seeks to penetrate this historical silence and interrogate what lies behind the lines through modern methodological tools, enabling researchers to reconstruct historical memory in a more comprehensive and objective manner. Keywords: historical writing, the unspoken, Arab-Islamic historiography, motives, mechanisms, interrogation.
