Abstract: This study aimed to create and validate a tool to measure stigmatization and mental health-related issues suffered by healthcare workers (HCWs) during the COVID-19 pandemic through the adaptation of some dimensions of the Spanish Clinic Screening Tool fot HIV patients (CST-HIV) scale, along with the Enacted Stigma dimension from the HIV Stigma Scale validated in Spaniards with HIV. A literature review was conducted to identify key constructs for inclusion in the CST-HCWs initial pool: anticipated stigma, emotional distress, sleep/fatigue, cognitive problems and enacted stigma. The items were then rated by 18 experts based on clarity, relevance and representativeness. A total of 175 HCWs participated in the study. Three items per construct were retained based on adequate psychometric properties. Confirmatory Factor Analysis confirmed the five-factor structure with a good fit to the data with p < 0.001 (RMSEA = 0.069, AGFI = 0.99, CFI = 0.99). All dimensions showed a Cronbach's alpha coefficient higher than .80. The value of Jöreskog rho also showed high-reliability values. In terms of validity, all the dimensions showed AVE values above the critical threshold of 0.50, indicating good convergent validity. The CST-HCWs is a promising tool to screen and address the stigmatisation of HCWs and mental health-related issues that this stigmatisation may cause, being able to prevent these issues and improving plans to avoid them.
