Access and inequality in the context of digital immortality
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This scientific article is devoted to the study of the problem of access and inequality in the context of digital immortality – the potential possibility of preserving human consciousness in digital form after his biological death. The article examines the ethical aspects of unequal access to digital immortality technologies, analyzes the risks of exacerbating existing social and economic inequality, and suggests possible ways to solve this problem. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that digital immortality technologies are likely to be expensive and accessible only to a limited number of people. This may lead to the creation of a new form of social stratification and discrimination, where "digital immortals" will have advantages over "mortals".The article explores the ethical principles of justice and equality, analyzes the factors affecting the cost of technology, and discusses possible scenarios for the development of a society with unequal access. Various approaches to ensuring equal access are proposed, including public financing, open technologies and international cooperation.
