Quark Mass as an Emergent Property of Gluon Confinement
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This brief presents a mechanistic derivation of up and down quark masses based on gluon confinement efficiency, challenging the Standard Model's reliance on arbitrary Higgs couplings. It proposes that quarks emerge from structured photon confinement in gluons, with mass dictated by internal vs. external energy distribution. The up quark forms a tetrahedral gluon structure (higher stability, stronger confinement), while the down quark forms a square gluon structure (lower stability, more expressed energy). This model predicts quark masses within experimental uncertainties and suggests that mass is an emergent property of gluon resonance bonding, not a fundamental Higgs-generated attribute. The work provides a first-principles explanation of mass generation and outlines testable implications for quark transitions and hadronic structure. This work is part of the ongoing efforts to develop a refined, first-principles model of Nature that reconstructs fundamental interactions through mechanistic energy structuring rather than imposed mathematical formalism.
