Discussion on Issues of Improving Medication Compliance in Elderly Patients with Pain

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In the treatment of elderly patients with pain, the phenomenon of insufficient medication compliance is relatively common. Specific reasons include reduced decision-making ability of elderly patients, treatment interruption caused by economic factors, fear of pain medications due to misunderstanding, and insufficient attention to physical pain. In addition, elderly patients usually suffer from multiple chronic conditions and are prescribed multiple medications, making long-term adherence particularly challenging. This paper mainly analyzes how to provide multi-dimensional pharmaceutical care from the perspective of pharmacists to improve medication compliance of elderly patients with pain, with the ultimate goal of safeguarding their rights and achieving medication safety, effectiveness, and cost-efficiency.
