Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Cultural structures and political climates have long influenced women’s participation in the labour force. While only half of the female population in South Africa are currently economically active, many prominent stakeholders agree that increasing this participation has the potential to grow, transform, and expand economies. Jessie-Lee Smith highlights HSRC researchers’ work on assessing the status of women in South Africa’s labour force.
