Common Dimensions

Abstract: Review: Common Dimensions is a unique platform dedicated to investigating the expressions of the chair as an object of study. This primarily online resource also offers a print publication by the same name. Each modality examines what makes a chair a chair. Common Dimensions is a predominantly digital resource, and has a variety of content including a visual archive, interviews, and a collection of text. Through these resources, users are encouraged to explore the material, cultural, and political dimensions of the chair. Common Dimensions was created by designer and visual artist Rebecca Wilkinson in collaboration with coder Gabriel Drozdov, with the aim of encouraging critical reflection of the roles chairs play and our relationships with them.
