Effectiveness of Medical Treatments on Survivability in Canine Cushing’s Syndrome: Protocol for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Year: 2024
Type: review
Abstract: This systematic review and meta-analysis investigates the effectiveness of pharmacological treatments for canine Cushing’s syndrome, commonly known as hyperadrenocorticism. Cushing’s syndrome is a common endocrine disorder in dogs that requires long-term management to control clinical symptoms and improve quality of life. Available treatment options include trilostane, mitotane, selegiline, ketoconazole, cabergoline, and aminoglutethimide. However, variability in treatment outcomes and the limited number of comparative studies highlight the need for a more comprehensive evaluation. This study consolidates and analyzes data from current research to assess the efficacy of these treatment. The findings aim to provide evidence-based guidance for veterinary practitioners, supporting informed decision-making and optimizing the management of canine Cushing’s syndrome.
