Abstract: Steps Around a Theory of Action is a collection of short introductions to a series of conferences, some well-known and others hitherto unexplored, in which Gregory Bateson addressed questions related to action within the ecological crisis. The series of short texts on the conferences and the graphic titled Bateson’s Cosmos draw heavily from many primary sources, including transcripts, letters, reports, and audio and video recordings in multiple archives.
