Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyse the stage adaptation of Elfriede Jelinek’s theatre text Angabe der Person, directed by Jossi Wieler in 2022 at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. An important research problem addressed in the article is the genre classification of Jelinek’s text. The article outlines the text’s origins and Jelinek’s artistic cooperation with the director Jossi Wieler. The study focuses on Jelinek’s reflections on death and historical reckonings with the German state. The latter were strongly verbalized in what could be called an “indictment” against the von Schirach family, who was involved in the criminal system of the Third Reich. An important point in this discussion is Jelinek’s polemic with the attitude represented by the writer Ferdinand von Schirach, who denied his own sense of guilt for the criminal activity of his grandfather, Baldur von Schirach, during the Third Reich.
