Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Chronic skin diseases are a diverse group of long-lasting or recurrent conditions that affect the skin, leading to significant physical, emotional, and social challenges for individuals. These conditions are often marked by persistent inflammation, impaired skin barrier function, and immune dysregulation. Some of the most common chronic skin diseases include psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), acne vulgaris, rosacea, chronic urticarial, and hidradenitis suppurativa. While each disease presents with distinct symptoms and pathophysiology, they share common features, including a tendency to relapse over time, the potential for a significant impact on quality of life, and the need for long-term management.
