Abstract: The article is devoted to the richness, majesty, exclusivity and mysterious appeal of V. I. Dal's "Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language", which is the first and only historical dictionary of the Russian mentality, which accumulates the historical experience of national life and the contribution of the Russian people to human civilization.
