Recent Advances In Eco-Friendly Synthetic Approaches For Heterocyclic Compounds: Targeting Type-2 Diabetes And Beyond
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Heterocyclic compounds are critical in the development of therapeutic agents, particularly in managing Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). However, traditional synthetic methods for these compounds often involve the use of toxic reagents, non-renewable resources, and harsh conditions, leading to significant environmental concerns. This review explores recent advancements in eco-friendly synthetic approaches for heterocyclic compounds, focusing on green chemistry principles, such as the use of renewable feedstocks, safer solvents, and mild reaction conditions. These methods not only reduce the environmental footprint of chemical synthesis but also enhance the efficiency and safety of the resulting pharmaceuticals. Additionally, the role of innovative pharmaceutical formulations and novel drug delivery systems (NDDS) in improving the therapeutic efficacy of these compounds is discussed, with particular emphasis on their application in the treatment of T2DM.
