Formulation, development, and evaluation of anti inflammatory and antimicrobial effects of a novel polyherbal mouthwash-An in vitro study

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The oral cavity is home to over 500 bacterial species. Some oral bacteria are innocuous, while others can lead to plaque, foul breath, and mouth infections. Proper dental hygiene is crucial for overall health. The current work sought to develop a polyherbal mouthwash with potential antibacterial effects. Herbal mouthwashes are superior than chemicalbased mouthwashes due to their non-irritating and non-staining qualities. Herbal remedies have been shown to decrease dental plaque, prevent bacterial growth, promote fresh breath, and wash teeth for decades.
