An In-Depth Analysis of the Influence of Nutrition on the Development of Paediatric Endocrine Conditions

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Paediatric endocrine situations (PECs) encompass a range of disorders affecting hormonal balance in children and adolescents, with their prevalence reportedly increasing due to lifestyle changes, dietary deficiencies, and environmental factors. Understanding the role of nutrition in the improvement of these conditions, is critical for improving health outcomes. This study aims to analyze how nutritional factors influence the onset and progression of PECs among children and adults. The patients of 135, aged from 0 to 18 years, were recruited from various paediatric endocrine clinics through random sampling over three years. Data was collected on dietary habits and medical diagnosis. Statistical evaluations were carried out using SPSS tests such as Chi-square and logistic regression to identify correlations. This study assessed the variables, which include dietary quality score, nutritional supplement usage, clinical condition, physical activity level, family history of endocrine disorders, and healthcare accessibility. Preliminary findings suggest a significant association between poor nutritional intake and the prevalence of PECs, in particular in instances of obesity and metabolic disorders, with higher incidences observed in children with insufficient diets. The findings underscore the necessity for heightened awareness regarding the nutritional influences on paediatric endocrine health, advocating for nutritional interventions as a strategy to mitigate the rise of PECs in vulnerable populations.
