Abstract: This article discusses the challenges facing French lexicology and terminology in the domain of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the face of the dominance of English. It presents the DataFranca initiative, a collaborative project aimed at creating, validating and disseminating a French lexicon of data science and AI. The article highlights the problems associated with current English terminology, including lack of rigor, over-mathematization and fad. It stresses the importance of terminological appropriation in French to foster understanding, education and innovation in the field of AI.
