Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: . This research analyzes euphemisms as a cultural and linguistic phenomenon, talking about their role in the creation of communication and their expression of societal values. The study illustrates how euphemisms act as a buffer in talking about sensitive topics such as death, disease, and social taboos. Comparing theoretical literature and cultural environment, the essay wants to discover how euphemisms function as a politeness device, a cultural marker, and a political tool. Qualitative analysis of English and Russian euphemisms and their psychological, social, and cultural impacts form the methodological approach to this study.
