A New Coin Type of Seleucia (Silifke)

Year: 2024

Type: article

Abstract: This article introduces a new coin type minted in the ancient city of Seleucia ad Calycadnum, located in the Cilicia Tracheia. Although the coin lacks an ethnic identifier, its attribution to the city is based on elements present in the city's autonomous coinage, featuring the club of Heracles on the obverse and a flower on the reverse. This discovery contributes a new type to the autonomous coin series of the Hellenistic period from this city.
