Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study examined the correlation between teacher attributes and Grade 11 students' General Mathematics achievement in Valencia City, Malaybalay City, and Bukidnon during the 2022-2023 school year's first and second quarters. Using universal and stratified random sampling, 100 teachers and 555 students from selected National High Schools participated. A descriptive survey, aligned with K–12 guidelines, assessed teacher attributes, while student performance was evaluated according to DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015. Results showed generally high teacher attributes, but areas for improvement were noted, especially in fostering teaching passion and developing multi-specialist skills. A significant positive relationship between teacher attributes and student math performance was found, highlighting the crucial role of teacher passion in student success. The study recommends integrating interdisciplinary approaches and teacher collaboration to create projects connecting mathematics with other subjects, enriching learning and potentially improving student outcomes. This research offers valuable insights into effective teaching practices and the impact of teacher characteristics on mathematics achievement.
