Examining the Building of Strong Teams Through Collaboration, Openness, and Effective Communication in Primary Schools
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study examines the significance of collaboration, transparency, and efficient communication in fostering robust teams in primary schools within the Tshwane West District. The study examines the inquiry: "In what ways do collaboration, transparency, and efficient communication enhance team efficacy in primary educational institutions?" The objective was to assess the perceived significance of these attributes among school principals. A mixed-methods approach was employed, incorporating a literature review and a survey. The literature study examined prior research on team growth in educational contexts, emphasising the importance of collaborative cultures and clear communication. The survey involved distributing 98 questionnaires to school administrators, yielding 83 completed responses, and resulting in an 84.7% response rate. Participants evaluated the significance of essential team-building elements on a four-point Likert scale: 1 (Not Important), 2 (Less Important), 3 (Important), and 4 (Very Important). Research indicates that principals regard collaboration, transparency, and effective communication as vital elements in forming robust teams. Critical observations emphasise the necessity for professional development initiatives that enhance essential competencies among school leaders, with the objective of elevating overall school performance.
