In-silico models for the toxicity prediction of Disinfection By-Products (DBPs) resulting from disinfection processes in drinking water treatment plants (DWTPs)
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: EU freshwater resources are increasingly at risk, with many surface waters failing to meet good ecological and chemical standards. Drinking water treatment plants face challenges in managing Disinfection By-products (DBPs) formed during disinfection. While many DBPs are unregulated, in-silico models are being developed to assess their potential hazards. To help prioritize DBPs for further testing, two (Q)SAR models have been developed within the NIAGARA project: one for the prediction of carcinogenicity and another for the prediction of genotoxicity.
