Current and Future Status of JSOC

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The Joint Science Operations Center (JSOC) experienced major flooding on November 26, 2024. This event significantly impacted our ability to store and retrieve data, and to process new data products. It also highlighted the need for the team to assess the existing lab infrastructure to facilitate potential future recovery efforts. This setback occurred while the JSOC had been in the process of updating various systems, focusing on improving reliability, robustness, and security. To enhance collaboration and version control, JSOC has been migrating its code base from CVS to Git. This has entailed establishing a dedicated GitHub organization, JSOC-SDP, to house our code repositories. The JSOC has also been modernizing its web interface by transitioning to the Flask framework. This shift will lead to a more robust and flexible foundation for future development efforts. This poster will detail the recovery efforts and complementary modernization initiatives aimed at improving the overall infrastructure at the JSOC at Stanford.
