Abstract: Summary. Being neighboring cultures, throughout history, Romanians and Bulgarians have had mutual influences. Successful examples include individuals like Grigori Țâmbalac, Anton Pan, Panaiot Stanciov-Cerna, who contributed to the development of Romanian culture and society, not only as Romanians but also as Bulgarians by ethnic origin. At the same time, due to geographical proximity, ethnic minority communities have emerged in these neighboring territories, which had to build their lives in accordance with the policies of the state to which they belong. After the reunification of Bessarabia with the Kingdom of Romania in 1918 and throughout the interwar period, due to the Romanian state’s educational policy, conditions were created for young people from various ethnic minorities to become part of the Romanian intelligentsia, and their works to become part of the Romanian literary heritage. Most of them were young people from southern Bessarabia, with Bolgrad as their cultural center, where they not only engaged in literary activities but also contributed to the emergence of periodicals. This article sheds light on the importance of Bulgarian intellectuals from Basarabia for Romanian culture during the interwar period and introduces into the scientific discourse the research findings on this topic from the academic environment in Bulgaria.Key words: mutual influences in culture, ethnic minorities, state’s educational policy, Bulgarian intellectuals from Basarabia, the Romanian literary heritage
