Abstract: All research infrastructures use power converters, and these can be more or less efficient. The importance of sustainability for many research infrastructures means that energy efficiency becomes a key factor during design an operations. As design methods evolve, better and better control of the output is offered, and higher efficiencies become available. To discuss this, a workshop was organised at ESS in April 2024. The workshop focused on efficient power converters for magnets and RF sources and sustainability aspects for RIs.
