Cross-Standard Health Data Harmonization using Semantics of Data Elements
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Health data is increasingly growing and heterogeneous, making it complex to integrate, particularly in the context of research into rare diseases. To meet this challenge, semantic modelling offers a powerful solution by structuring data, defining its schema and linking it to semantic resources such as ontologies or controlled vocabularies. This poster presents a three-layer approach to interoperable data modelling: data formats, schema languages and semantic resources. Each layer is illustrated by concrete examples from biomedical use cases, highlighting the benefits of this approach for data search, validation and reuse.
