Quantum Frontiers: Exploring the Convergence of Quantum Computing and Nanotechnology

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The convergence of quantum computing and nanotechnology represents a transformative frontier in science and engineering. Quantum computing promises unprecedented computational capabilities by leveraging quantum phenomena such as superposition and entanglement, while nanotechnology enables manipulation and fabrication at the atomic and molecular scale. This paper explores how advancements in nanotechnology are critical to the development and scalability of quantum computing systems. We examine how nanomaterials like graphene and carbon nanotubes contribute to qubit coherence and system stability, and how nanoscale fabrication techniques facilitate error correction and architectural miniaturization. In addition, we explore cutting-edge topics such as hybrid quantum-nano systems, spintronics-based qubits, and nanophotonic interconnects. Despite significant promise, challenges such as decoherence, thermal management, and material imperfections hinder progress. We also highlight emerging applications across sectors including medicine, cryptography, and artificial intelligence.
