Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This report, part of the eLTER PLUS project under the EU Horizon 2020 initiative, provides an overview of the development and dissemination of training videos aimed at supporting the European Long-Term Ecosystem Research Infrastructure (eLTER). The goal of these videos is to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of stakeholders such as researchers, students, practitioners, and other participants in the project. Key Highlights: Training Videos Produced:A total of 37 videos have been recorded and published by August 2024. These are available on both the eLTER website and YouTube. The topics span across key areas like socio-ecological research, data management, and technical innovations. As of August 2024, these videos have collectively garnered 4,570 views. Content Focus:The videos cover a wide range of topics, including transdisciplinary science, standard observations, data management, and innovative technological tools provided by eLTER. Each video is tailored to enhance the expertise of the target audience, from beginners to experienced researchers. Future Development Plan:The plan for future videos focuses on addressing the evolving needs of both internal stakeholders (such as Site and Platform Coordinators) and external stakeholders (like researchers and policymakers). Future content will cover advanced data management, technical skills in programming, standard observations, and the Whole System Approach. Accessibility & Outreach:The plan includes expanding the reach of the videos through multi-language support and hosting them on various platforms for broader accessibility. Sustainability and Collaboration:Long-term sustainability is emphasised through the archiving of videos and exploring collaboration opportunities with other research infrastructures. Additionally, continuous improvements will be ensured through regular updates and feedback mechanisms. This initiative contributes significantly to capacity building within the eLTER community and supports the long-term sustainability of this essential research infrastructure.
